보령 원도심 내 뉴딜사업 일반근린형으로 선정된 남대천마을은 폐철도 부지와 대천천 주변으로 저층노후주거지역과 무허가주택, 공폐가, 빈점포 등이 다수 존재하는 지역이다. 우선 주거복지를 위해 공공서비스 기반을 구축하고 공유경제 도입으로 지역경제를 향상시키는데 방점을 두고 계획하였다. 또한, 수변공간을 적극 활용하여 지역의 매력도를 상승시키고 공동체 활성화를 통한 지속성을 확보하는데 주력하였다.

The Namdaecheon Village, selected as a general neighborhood-type New Deal project within the downtown area of Boryeong, is an area characterized by low-rise aged residential areas, unauthorized housing, vacant stores, and abandoned sites, located around the abandoned railway and the Daecheon Stream. The plan focuses on establishing a public service infrastructure and improving the local economy through the introduction of a sharing economy, with an emphasis on residential welfare. Additionally, the plan prioritizes utilizing waterfront spaces to enhance the attractiveness of the area and ensure sustainability through community activation.
