공주는 조선시대 공주목과 충청감영의 소재지로 충청도의 중심지로 기능하였으나 주변 광역도시의 발전과 원도심 쇠퇴로 도시 경쟁력을 위한 관광동력 다각화가 필요한 상황이다. 이에 충청도 수부도시로서의 정체성 강화와 역사문화 자원을 연계하는 역사가로를 조성하는 충청 감영길 역사문화가로 조성계획을 수립하였다.

충청 감영길을 통해 공주의 역사문화 정체성을 강화하고 산재한 역사문화자원을 연계하는 상징가로를 조성하여 지역상권과 원도심의 문화활동을 활성화하는 장소로 만들고자 한다.

Gongju served as the center of Chungcheong-do as the location of Gongjumok and Chungcheong Gamyeong during the Joseon Dynasty, but due to the development and decline of surrounding metropolitan cities, it is necessary to diversify its government power for urban competitiveness. Through Gamyeong-gil, Chungcheong-do, it is intended to strengthen the historical and cultural identity of Gongju and create a symbolic street linking scattered historical and cultural resources to promote cultural activities in local commercial districts and the original city center.
