서울시 성북구 언덕배기의 오래된 낙후 주거지인 배나무골은 자연보전지구 지정에 따른 건축물 높이 제한과 자연발생적으로 생겨난 골목길과 필지간의 관계때문에 오랬동안 재개발의 시도를 해왔지만, 점점 더 낡아 가고 비워 지고 있다.

이에 주거환경개선사업을 통해 대상지 내 공가를 리모델링하여 현장사무소를 꾸리고 주민들에게 자율주택정비사업 등의 주택 정비 사업의 방법과 대안들을 소개하고 그 가능성과 방향성을 함께 논의하여 집단적 개선의 방향과 리모델링활성화 계획을 수립하였다.

Baenamugol, an old underdeveloped residential area in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul, has long attempted redevelopment due to restrictions on the height of buildings under the designation of natural conservation zones and relationships between naturally occurring alleys and lots. In response, the residential environment improvement project established a site office, introduced the methods and alternatives of housing improvement projects, and discussed their possibilities and directions to establish a plan for collective improvement and remodeling.
