충청남도 환황해권은 보령, 서산, 당진, 서천, 홍성 태안등 6개 시군을 아우르고 한반도의 중앙에 위치하고 있으며 황해와 접하고 있어 중국 및 국내 주요 도시로부터 접근성이 양호하다. 환황해권 해안선은 사구가 발달되어 있고 호수와 해수욕장이 산재하여 있어 관광자원이 풍부하다. 평야지대와 산악경관 또한 뛰어나지만 자원들이 지역별로 흩어져 있고 뚜렷한 관광객 유치 전략이 부족하여 경제·문화적 효과는 미미하다고 볼 수 있다.이에 환황해권 거점지역과 문화자원을 연계하는 전략을 통해 관광활성화를 이루는 계획을 수립했다.

The Hwanghae Coastal Region in Chungcheongnam-do encompasses six cities and counties: Boryeong, Seosan, Dangjin, Seocheon, Hongseong, and Taean. It is located in the central part of the Korean Peninsula and borders the Yellow Sea, providing good accessibility from major cities in China and within Korea. The coastal line of the Hwanghae Region is well-developed with dune, lakes, and beaches, making it rich in tourism resources. The region also boasts flat plains and beautiful mountain landscapes. However, the resources are scattered across different areas, and there is a lack of clear strategies to attract tourists, resulting in minimal economic and cultural impact. Therefore, a plan has been developed to achieve tourism activation by integrating the hub areas and cultural resources in the Hwanghae Coastal Region.
