보령시의 머드자원은 20여년 이상 머드축제로 인지도 및 브랜드 가치가 크지만, 축제 기간에 관광객의 수요가 집중되어 있고 축제 외 기간 활용도가 매우 저조하여 이를 극복할 수 있는 방안 마련이 시급한 실정이다. 이에 본 용역에서는 보령머드 테마파크 내 박람회 연계 행사 지원을 위한 컨벤션 기능을 확충하여 성공적인 머드박람회 개최를 지원하고, 향후 보령시 관광자원과 연계를 통해 기업 단체 등 대규모 관광객을 유치하고 마이스 산업 발전으로 보령의 관광산업의 기반을 마련하는 마이스 산업을 유치하고자 하였다.

The mud resources in Boryeong City have gained significant recognition and brand value through the Mud Festival for over 20 years. However, the demand from tourists is concentrated during the festival period, and the utilization of the mud resources during other times is very low. It is urgent to come up with measures to overcome this situation. Therefore, in this project, we aimed to expand the convention capabilities to support the integration of exhibitions and events within the Boryeong Mud Theme Park, and to support the successful hosting of mud exhibitions. In the future, we also aimed to attract large-scale tourists such as corporate groups by linking Boryeong City's tourism resources, and to attract the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) industry to establish the foundation for the development of Boryeong's tourism industry.
